According to the 'Water Project', an NGO aimed at bringing potable water to developing countries, nearly 1 billion people do not have access to potable water.
Isn't that disheartening?
Most of us waste it, we let the tap run, we have founts that pour water as a means of artistic display whist in a parallel world people are dying for the lack of it. Lack of potable water affects substantially other aspects of life. As pointed out by 'Water Project':
- if students do not walk for miles and miles to fetch water, they will be able to receive an education and approach their potential.
- If there is water then there is food as crops need water in order to survive, water will therefore be the beginning of solving the issue of malnutrition in Sub-Saharan Africa.
- When there is potable water, peoples health will also boost which will reduce the time they need to fight sickness and allow them to work towards a better future out of poverty.
